I have been researching Pates for awhile and still don’t know much. But looking at the service record I noted that Abecimeci, Abe for short, cause I have seen numerous spellings of his name, lived 15 miles from Camp Hope which is located near Fort Hawkins, which is in Macon. Betting y’all know this already.
I haven’t researched yet the communities or counties that may fall in the 15 miles circle but plan to soon.
My Pates, proven by DNA, are the Goshen Church Pates of Lincoln county, Ga, James, Sr; Charles Raborn and wife Milly, James, Jr; William died1844 in Henry county, his daughter, Rebecca; James, Sr’s daughter, Pheobe who was churched for “bastardly conduct”. Most of these Pates migrated from Lancaster, Camden District, SC with many born in the PeeDee river area of SC or up river in NC ( Anson, old Dobbs, Wayne, Greene, & other counties). They are from Edenton, Bertie or Chowan county in Northern NC AND descendants of Throughgood Pate d1713 in Edenton per our DNA Results at Family tree DNA.
My gggrandfather Frank William Pate was born in 1790 in Lancaster county, SC, to a Thomas Pate? I failed to find any evidence of him in Ga or Tuscaloosa, Al where many of the Fayetteville Pates(Goshen Pates) moved to by 1810. My Frank shows up in Adams & Amite county, Miss shortly after the War of 1812. He married ElizabethGarlington in Amite county in 1815.
Here is where I may muddy your water! Frank’s grandfather is likely John Pate. Or is it Abe? John. I have seen and bet you have to, that John’s name included Abe?
Any help would be appreciated? By the way, I don’t think that facts exist or survived the courthouse fires and record losses due to calamities to clearly establish the relationships your argument seems to be about! MHO!
Back to the circle around Macon. I will get back with info soon as possible! Got hogs to catch and a garden to finish planting.
