2 different census records same year?

Question

Im having quite a bit of trouble with James A Edens 2H61-FQ3, the father to James Edens Jr M4CF-PDY.  The 1790 census records of the Pendleton District of South Carolina and the census records of Charleston, South Carolina in 1790 both show Jame Edens.   Could they have been in both census records?  Or is this just siblings naming their kids the same names(which is ridiculously confusing).  I’m wanting the James A Edens married to Martha Chastain (Hugenot family).  I hope so anyway.

“How many grandchildren you have”?  Well I’ve got 8 James and 8 Williams and 8 Johns...lol

If you moved that year you could end up being in the census twice - yes but those families that name the same will drive ya nuts - been there before too

I am sorry, did not mean to be cryptic, I saw it as a Family Search profile identifier and I guess I was too tired to really be on anymore and merely typed fs - lol sometimes we use a lot of acronyms and shorthand and forget that we are to spell things out

Edens-608  is your wiki profile for James A Edens married to Martha Chastain.

Found a Find a Grave for James married to Martha Chastain https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/134211246.  that states he was born in England, no sourcing shown.  2 children Nancy and James are linked as well as wife's grave site.  It states he died 1838 in Tenn. No gravestone, but a small biography exists.

I found 3 records for 1790 US Census for James Edens.  2 are identical in Christ Church, Charleston, SC that has  1 / 2 / 5 that has James Eden, not Edens.  The one in Pendleton, SC has 2 / 1 / 7 as James Edens,  so I would 'assume' this is 2 different families.  One of the Charleston ones has James Jr.

1800 Census shows Charleston, SC location only for James Eden.

Doing a search for James Edens with date range of 1750 - 1830 in SC shows multiple 'James Eden' with different wives.  There are limited records with 'Edens'

I can’t determine which ones wind up in Tennessee and which one is attached to the Chastain (Baptist Ministers) family.

Have you seen this book?  It has Martha Chastain in it, so it must have some info about this family.

Yes.  I do believe the link to my Eden family and the Texas Eden family exists...I can’t get past Jobe Eden 1854-1910 to make said connection.  Both families have the Tennessee connection and If so then it appears that James A Edens(the s appears to come and go) is the link.   

James Wilson Eden 1879-1914 is definitely my great great grandpa(positive) and Jobe was supposedly his father but Jobe seems to disappears before age 17 from James Eden 1812-1879 Carter County, Tennessee census records...but Jobe definitely shows back up in the Trousdale County, Hartsville, Tennessee family Cemetery and death records of his daughter Mary Stubblefield
