Is it possible to create a page where a person can look for others of his same genetic type?

There are over 5,000 members who have tested DNA yet I see no way to find all the members of type R-M222. Is there such a page? If not, why not since it is a very powerful research tool.

Thanks,

Lothar

10 to 20 percent of all males in the  counties of Northwest Ireland, Ulster and Lowland Scotland are R-M222.  The M222 SNP is a few thousand years old and so is not much use for recent genealogy.  What is most useful is a comparison of haplotypes (25, 37, and 67 markers) and the best site I know for that is www.ysearch.org and entering your YSearch ID on your DNA Tests page in WikiTree.

Peter you are of course correct but that really isn't the issue. I am asking for a page where one can compare their results, i.e. R-M222 or further downstream with any other wiki user. As it stands now, I can see the people who have tested but unless I click on 5,000 names I can't see what they are researching, I can't see if they are close to me genetically, in short there is very little we can do with genetic information except click and hope. If I am missing a step here, please let me know.

Thanks,

Hello Lothar,

The best way to study R-M222 and the haplotypes found in that haplogroup is to join https://www.familytreedna.com/public/r1b1c7/default.aspx

Because most known haplogroups are thousands of years old, the focus is on deep ancestry which is prior to genealogical records and the adoption of surnames.  WikiTree only goes back 2,014 years and no one has a confirmed direct paternal line nearly that old.

The best way to find matches is with the customer database of the company you tested with and www.ysearch.org which accepts all compatiable Y STR results from any testing lab.  I recommend searching at YSearch and your test company's customer database.  Also I believe WikiTree has a policy of not storing DNA results at WikiTree.

Sincerely, Peter
