Thanks!!! I just saw this. Sorry it took me so long to thank you for it.
Yes and so his middle name was Venable . I thought so! People married  their cousins Very often in those days in the South  at least. Thank you for providing me with the names of my forbears on that side

I want to thank you very much for this information. I’m a little puzzled as to whether Susan and “Gand” (John Granville) Daniel Can really be the parents of Richard. They seem to be so far away in time from his birth. In other words they would have been quite old when he was born. Maybe I have the wrong birthdate for Richard. Can anyone help with this? Many thanks,

Apparently they are.

Hi Isabella, where have you searched so far please?

Here, and there was someone named Gand Daniel on Family Search who may be his father. I was a little confused by the information there though.

Thanks Marion!
Added 1850 census to profile, note his middle initial is V but what source do you have that it is Venable?

There is also another 1850 census that refers to slave owners in North Carolina.
It is from my family papers I believe. Doesn’t it say on FamilySearch that it’s Venable? I’m sure it’s in there somewhere. People of the planter class  to marry their cousins.I really cannot imagine that if his middle name was Vicky it didn’t stand for Venable. But I will try to find out.

Thanks!
I didn’t look on family search, as you had already done that, I went to Findmypast and that’s where I got the records I added
Yes ... unhappily, my Southern  ancestors owned many slaves. I would love to meet some of the descendants of those people  and get to know them.
I really appreciate your help. Thanks! I am not an expert at FamilySearch having just discovered it. People might find more on there than I have.
It is definitely Venable.
