My mom has three sisters and one half sister. (And no brothers, much to her father's chagrin.)

Here she is with two of her sisters, her cousins, and her grandmother, dressed up in their Easter Sunday best. She's the littlest girl in the flowery cap.

My Great Grandmother, Cora (Howland) Holmes, and two of her nieces, Miriam and Marion. This photo was taken in about 1907 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

52 Photos Week 9: Girly

This is my sister, Diane Rae Smith Billadeau and me, dressed up for Easter. I really believe that my mother wanted twins because she always dressed us alike for special occasions. Like the above picture, the top part of our dress was a different color. I have several pictures of us in the same dress different colors.

I miss my sister dearly every day, since she passed away on November 3, 1991. She was fun to be with, full of life, and filled the room when she entered it. I am very lucky to have had her in my life.

My mother was a little girl when this shot was taken in 1927. It shows her mother, several aunts, friends and a couple of canine buddies.

Here is one, of my great-grand aunt, Grace LaPearl Taylor, at about ten years old. This was taken at a photo studio in Wapakoneta, Ohio, around 1885, and my 2nd great grandparents (her parents) had their pictures taken there, too.

Rarely did I see my grandmother dressed up and looking like the beautiful lady that she was. She was usually in a house dress with her hair in a hairnet. Not much time to be girly when you are raising 9 kids.
