Welcome to G2G forum, Randolph.

Do you know any more info on Karl?

Place of birth and/or place of dead?
Do you know grandmother’s name?
Yes, my Grandmother  is Anna Berger b. July 1910, in Hohberg am Hessen, Germany and died in Frankfurt, Germany d. March 1989. I have not been able to find marriage records to date.

I believe, but am not certain that he died:  23 Jun 1984 in Geisenheim, Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis, Hesse, Germany.

Other than that I do not have any other reliable information. I do have a piece of info that says he died in 1943 during the war, but I am not sure if it is ttrue, or even the same Karl Kilian

I have just found a death announcement in my Mother's papers, for Karl Kilian, giving a date of death as 23 June 1984 in Geisenheim. It also gives me a name of his then wife Maria Kilian and daughter Karin Kilian then married to a Rolf Richter.

In Germany there is an association that works already for decades to document German soldiers who were KIA or MIA during different German wars. Their main focus is on WW II, but they also document soldiers of WW I. They also try to keep in order the cemeteries all around Europe to honour the soldiers who are lying there. They have a database with countless soldiers in it.

Using the DOB of t he profile and the info you gave here, I found in the database 2 Karl Kilians, who could be a possible match, but I don't have enough info to really determine that.

#1 is a Karl Kilian who was born in 1907 in Obrigheim and died in 1946 in a war hospital in today's Croatia. I had a look for that town, it's today a part of the Croatian capital Zagreb. https://www.volksbund.de/graebersuche/detailansicht.html?tx_igverlustsuche_pi2%5Bgid%5D=b8beed13d7dee3226075fbb2ace12994&cHash=f209f31de3a2b08d6f1f4361b9042561 (the flag on the top of the site helps to switch the language)

#2 is a Karl Kilian who was born in 1914, but he was born in Geisenheim. This Karl Kilian was killed at the end of 1941. According to the association he is buried at the war cemetery in Geisenheim. https://www.volksbund.de/graebersuche/detailansicht.html?tx_igverlustsuche_pi2%5Bgid%5D=6e7e6a8d699239b86aed9a2808546398&cHash=35cb1c5cfeb5c42179be510c8bc84413

Those are the two possibilities I could find with that bit of info available.
