Can you read the inventory of Jeremiah's estate? Located here:

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-99HY-194M-N?i=296&wc=Q7TM-4WG%3A213305601%2C213401201&cc=1920234

So far I have:

  • 1 hat
  • 1 great coat
  • 3 pair overalls
  • 4 shirts
  • 1 handkerchief
  • 3 pair stockings
  • 1 hone
  • 1 razor
  • 1 chest
  • 1 stout boiled coat
  • 1 slate
  • other clothing
  • 1 pair plowirons
  • 1 clothes brush
  • 1 gun
  • 1 axe
  • 1 handsaw
  • 1 sythe
  • 3 ???

My thoughts are he was young, living with his sister, whose husband administered the estate when he died intestate.

Last item might be vests, but it makes sense in the list that it would have been some type of tool used in early settlement of the wilderness in central New York around 1807.

The last one is 3 vests. The other 2 could be 1 hone (Spelt wrong) & 1 razor also spelt wrong?

Thanks everyone!

I’m still struggling with?erts. This was shortly after the first grist mill and first sawmill were built and near the fairly new Genesee road migration route. Some tool to work with those or traps would make sense.

It’s not important, just one of those gee I’m interested let’s go down this rabbit hole.

I'd read the stout boiled coat as a Strait Bodied Coat.

Yeah could be. At any rate it had to be a heavy winter coat, the most valuable thing he owned. The area averages just over 100 inches (254 cm) snow per year.
