Hi Fran! I love WikiTree, too! I used to write HTML to create webpages way back, so I've caught on to most of the stuff here fairly well, but I can certainly see how it could be confusing to someone who has no foundation in HTML at all.
Sourcing from Ancestry is not too difficult--just copy and paste the Source Citation information next to an image or under a record and paste it in WikiTree. If you want to get fancy you can add a link to the image or record. WikiTree has instructions for doing that here Ancestry.com citations and links The main thing is to include enough information that someone else could use that information to find the same source (provided they have an Ancestry.com subscription which is why I usually source what I can from FamilySearch.org and just use Ancestry for what I can't find there.)
If you want to do your sources as inline citations, put <ref> before the information you copy and paste, then add </ref> right after what you paste.
One way to learn is to look at profiles other people have done by clicking on "Edit" at the top of their profiles It doesn't hurt anything to just look. If you look "behind the scenes" you can learn so much.
You are absolutely right--people here are very helpful and encouraging (for the most part.) So, if you try to do something and you're not sure you did it right, you can post on G2G for someone to check it for you and tell you how to correct it (or sometimes they'll even correct it for you, if you wish.)
Best wishes with everything!

Edit: I just took a look at some of the profiles you've created so far and it looks like you're doing very well to me!
