This is my great-great-great grandparents homestead in Bristle Ridge, Missouri. This photo is circa 1895. It's from our family photo album. The dog's name is Jolly :)

This was our home for three years when we were assigned with the US Army to duty in Germany.  Kunigundestr 4- Lorsch, West Germany a little village near the town of  Worms am Rhein.  My wife Vickie and dog- basset hound Barney McGoo-  he was a great ice breaker when it came to meeting our German neighbors as we walked to the schwimbad and thru the  wald! Both Vickie and I were company commanders for Signal Corps companies. My Dad was in the Army too so i have lived in Germany 6 years total.  In all i have lived in over 35 homes

This picture show my Great Grandfather Frederick Louis Langridge outside his family home 1 Quayside, Wotton Bridge, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England, United Kingdom

He, Elizabeth and their family lived here a longtime. After he passed in 1939 my father moved in to help his Gran out with asissting his Uncle Fred who had lost his lower leg in the great War

52 Photos Week 10      Home Sweet Home

This is Martin Miller Porter's Homestead in Momence, Kankakee, Illinois, United States.

Martin, his wife, Mary Ellen Dutcher Porter, and their seven children lived in this home from 1890-1915.  At least 3 of their children were born in this house.  They did not sell this home, but did move into town in 1924. Where they lived at 324 Locust Street in Momence. 

Their son Leslie Porter moved into the farm house, and raised his family there.

Mary Ellen Dutcher wrote a dairy that was very detailed, and I have one year's worth of her writings, which are very interesting to read.

This is the only photo I have of my great-great-grandmother, Emily Florence (Wilson) Mounts. Florence would have liked you to know that she prefers Florence, not Emily, thank you very much. On her widow's pension application, she wrote, "My baptismal name was Emily Florence Wilson, but from the time I was old enough to know about such things I discarded the name of Emily simply because I did not like it and I did like Florence, but my family and old friends still persist in using it."

I love the idea of Florence constantly trying to remind her older brothers that her name is Florence, please, not Emily, and her brothers still "persisting" with Emily. 

I know Florence lived with her daughter Flossie the last part of her life, so this is their home, at 4247 Garfield in Kansas City. I like the neighbors watching curiously from their own porches.

This is my great-grandparents with their children in 1914 - the infant is Maxwell Murray, who only lived 7 years. They are all standing on the side of their house - it is in the background.

Here are my great grandparents, Knowlton and Cora Holmes, at their home on Winter Street in Plymouth, Massachusetts.  They called their house "The Sgt. William Harlow Homestead" and operated it as a museum.  Knowlton claimed that the house had been built by Sgt William Harlow in the mid 1600s, before he built the Harlow Old Fort House.  He had some heated exchanges with other Plymouth historians who did not agree with his claim.

My husband's mother [[Kornbau-5|Charlotte Romaine Kornbau]] had all four of her sons at home. [[Halpin-348|Gregory Halpin]] was an "accident" and was born at the last home him mother and father lived in. First picture is Greg and his mother shortly after giving birth in 1961. The 2nd picture is Greg and his mother with his three brothers looking on. Charlotte is an amazing woman.

To me there is nothing more "Home Sweet Home" then a newborn baby and family in their new home ready to create many more memories!

My second great grandfather, Louis Andrew Budd Sr came to the United States in 1854. He settled his family in Forestville, New York.

Holly Hill, which my family called Rose Valley, is one of the oldest homes in Maryland, located in Anne Arundel County.  The earliest part of the house was built in 1698.  It was home to the Scrivener Family from the 1850's to 1936.

Above is my GG Grandfather Tim Allen's family, circa 1890, on the front porch of a home he built on a hilltop near New Blaine Arkansas. (Unfortunately we don't have better photo of the house.)   Below, is a newer picture of the house  (after a few remodels by my grandfather)  in 1981.   I have incredible childhood memories of this home, when spending time there with my cousins.
