You can either cut and paste the bio or type it in.

To include the sources you use the format

<ref> source </ref>

When you are finished the bio section be sure to include the lines

== Sources ==

<references/>

EXAMPLE:

== Biography ==

John Doe was born July 4, 1776 at Boston, MA (p. 1999) <ref>Vital Record of Boston, MA 1650-1799</ref>

John Doe married Mary Smith, daughter of John and Abigai Smith,  Jan. 1, 1800 at Providence RI (p. 278)<ref> Providence RI Marriages, Vol. 1 by James N Arnold,  Simon & Schuster 1881</ref>

== Sources ==

<references/>

Chris, thanks for example!

This is a whole new text language to me!

I want to know if I can do the 'bio' in plain text without <ref> and then show <references> in my == Sources == ?

Otherwise, I thought of placing a "link" to my website where it's all held !!

My regards, Norman

I don't see why you can't copy & paste as long as you follow the styles & standards guidelines for Wikitree (see help index- styles & standards).

Douglas, thanks for that.

I now understand that text and editing has to be done in what I call "wiki speak/language". I have 1/4 of a ream of paper printed off from the 'help' section already!!!

It would have been more helpful if this "site" had accepted plain text as in word processing docs., I am sure GEDCOMS would have read better when uploaded as well!

You can see I am not conversant with this style and if not done right could produce so many errors!!

Regards, Norman

If you are using <ref name="whatever"> the quotes “ “ in a word docx are not the same quotes " " as here.  You can either start by typing one on wiki and then pasting into your docx or change them after.  The first is easier, but I usually forget until too late.
