Anna Elizabeth Matthis is my brick wall. I could use help. Anna's ID is Matthis-87. Her mother is another brick wall. Unknown-462647.

The problem I am having is that I can't find Anna Matthis' father. I have all her vitals but not this. It wasn't even on her death certificate.  She was brought up by a man named Fred Keltz. Her mother married Fred after she had Anna.

I almost suspect that she was illegitimate.

Plus, no one seemed to have any idea what her mother's maiden name was!  The poor woman is buried all by herself in Ridgehill Memorial Cemetery in Ohio.

I am still working on Anna Keltz' profile. Bear with me, I've got the flu.. My I'd on ancestry.com is reikidolls362 if you want to look at the two women there

Terri, hope you beat that flu bug. It decked me for about two weeks earlier this year.

Do you have any information on the families religious affiliation? Is it possible there might be records of the religious organization with some additional information? I had a similar situation where a first son of an ancestor was illegitimate and nothing was known of the actual father. But, digging back in Quaker monthly meeting minutes it was possible to detect who his father had been (the son kept is mother's maiden name as his surname even though it appears her eventual husband had adopted him).

What really makes me angry is that I got a flu shot.

Anna Matthis was Lutheran,  I've seen a gorgeous confirmation photo of her at my Uncle's house. So maybe I will do some digging around for her in the Lutheran churches.

I found an Anna E. Keltz born circa 1855 born in Germany and married Fred Keltz and had a son named Harry Keltz.  Resided in Louisville, Ward 12, Jefferson, Kentucky in 1910.  Found also Anna E Keltz born 1856 in Germany.  Daughter Anna E. Heuser Born (Mauthis).  Also shows Anna E. Keltz died Jan. 27th, 1941, Lorain Ohio.  Hope this helps.

Thank you, Kathi.

Thank you, Phillip. Anna  Keltz and her daughter, Anna Matthis, were living with Fred Keltz and his family by 1990.I think that there was a language barrier there because they were listed as FradKettz.
