Hello:  My name is Allyn Pratt and I am researching for my ancestors.  I believe, based on current research and documentation, I have been able to document my family ancestors back to Macuth Pratt (b:1595 in Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire, England) and emigrated to Weymouth, Mass. in about 1637?  My research is focused on;1) confirming the ancestors from Macuth to me (Macuth is my 10th G.Grandfather) and 2) to research for Macuth's ancestors.

Best Regards, Allyn Pratt

My most recent Pratt ancestor is Tabitha born 1725 and died 1779. She was the daughter of Joseph Pratt, Jr. born 1688, son of Joseph Pratt born in Weymouth, Norfolk, MA, son of Joseph Pratt born 1639, son of Matthew Pratt born 1595 in England, son of Thomas Pratt born Aston, Bukinghamshire, England, son of Henry Pratt born about 1535 Chesham, Buckingham, Engand, son of Thomas Pratt b 1535 Baldock, Hertford, England, son of Simon Pratt, Hertfordshire, England

Frank: thank you for the reply and information.  I do have the reference for Macuth (b:1595) but only have the death record for Macuth's father, Thomas (d: Oct 1616), both in Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire.  There are some sources that show a Henry Pratt as the father of Thomas. Other sources show a Thomas Henry Pratt..  Also, I am looking for the records that show the father of Phineas Pratt (b:1593). The records show that Phineas did emigrate to Weymouth, Mass. in 1622.  There are that Phineas and Macuth may have been related, perhaps cousins?  Frank, I am new to Wikitree and would like to know how to review the existing records for Thomas Pratt. Could you please help me with this?  Best Regards, Allyn Pratt.
Looking at the records on this side of the Atlantic: I've been looking at the Pratt 'sire's as they came into the early New England colony and Phineas isn't showing up in the records very much, not like your Mathew and his family. Phineas is in early 1628 Plymouth and he dies in Charleston 19 Apr 1680. 3 other Pratt's are in Charlestown (source:Farmer); Anthony Pratt made Freeman 1630 and John Pratt made Freeman 1634; Richard Pratt residence of Charlestown 1643; had son Tho. b. 1646. Anthony, John and Richard could be brother's, they're all in Charlestown the same time and prob. about the same age. I need to look at Passenger lists and see if these three pop out.

Hello Allyn, I'm a little late with this reply. Staying on this side of the Atlantic: I just happen to be looking at Mathew / Macuth Pratt in a 1636 Weymouth land grant. Later in life the children 'itemized' in his 1672 Will: Thomas (b.b4 1628 because at ae 19 or older he's made freeman in 1641 Weymouth); Mathew Jr.; John; Samuel; Joseph, b.1639; dau. m. Chard; dau m. White. At time of his death in 1672 (either at Weymouth or Rehoboth) several of his children were still minors and the evil step-mother Elizabeth didn't want anything to do with them so they were assigned legal guardian by the court so they could live happier lives not being around her. Although that may be the interpretation of author Charles Henry Cory.

Hi Leigh Anne contrary to the interpretation of Charles Henry Cory, I refer you to https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/326002/you-know-what-means-colonial-america-child-choose-guardian?show=326002#q326002
