Robert M Crockett 1755 - 1836

+2 votes
I saw on my tree that it shows Robert Crockett 1755-1836 as my ancestor who was the son of David Crockett did Robert and his wife Elizabeth have a daughter named Lettica 1791-1850 who on my tree married Jacob Hicks

I have they had the following line

John Hicks who was the father of my great great grandfather James Richard Hicks 1890-1967

I would like to know if this tree is true

Thanks for any help

Hi Dustin.  Given that the profiles involved in this lack primary source documentation and I wasn't finding answers, I cast the net a bit wider. I think there are some issues with Letticia's profile and perhaps some of those attached to it.  What appears to be she and Jacob in the US Census of 1850 has them living in Wayne County, Kentucky. Her year of birth matches but she gave her place of birth as North Carolina (the NC/KY border moved around and I do not recall dates for that). Jacob's year of birth matches in that census and he gives his place of birth as Virginia.

However, that census record lists no sons named James or John which are attached as her sons. One being born 1808 making her 17 (possible but younger than average for this time period) and the other, John, being impossibly born 1872 when she would have been 81!  It's possible if James was born 1808 that he was not living at home in 1850.

Here's the census record:

Name: Leticia Hicks
[Laticia Hicks]
Age: 59
Birth Year: abt 1791
Birthplace: North Carolina
Home in 1850: Division 1, Wayne, Kentucky, USA
Gender: Female
Family Number: 281
Household Members:
Name Age
Jacob Hicks 69
Leticia Hicks 59
Liticia Hicks 23
Elizabeth Hicks 20
Lucretia Hicks 19
Patsey E Hicks 17
Nathaniel Hicks 34

Year: 1850; Census Place: Division 1, Wayne, Kentucky; Roll: M432_221; Page: 302A; Image: 347

None of this answers your question as to were her parents Robert and Elizabeth Crockett but this might help get closer to the answer as it would appear, if she is the daughter, they migrated from Virginia through North Carolina then westward which was a common migration route.
