I will learn to clean up gedcom "junk" one day, but today isn't that day.

Is there someone who can give Fanny a decent profile cleanup to reflect her notability .. or should that be notoriety?

How the 'famous Fanny Finch' became Australia's first female voter — 50 years before it was legal

I will have a look at the profile
I have added  a little to the bio and some sources I haven't added any categories not sure what to add I will have a look tomorrow
Terry,

I added two more categories and a Notables Sticker for Fanny. If you find others please add them.
Thanks Skip I will add a little more to her bio today. I didn't add about her selling sly grog yet I have the newspaper clipping about that I want to add. I am glad you adopted the profile it's a bit sad when you see these orphaned profiles Terry

Thanks!  yes

Terry, I too find it sad to see these orphaned profiles. I'm inclined to adopt them if their surname matches one of my collateral or associated lines with the hope of finding a connection in the future. Finch is one of the surnames I share an interest in but I will gladly turn the profile over to anyone with a known connection. Skip

Nice to know I'm not the only "sucker" who doesn't like seeing orphans. smiley

(I've adopted a few just because I was sourcing them and got rather involved with finding as much as I could for them.  And babies.  I really don't like seeing babies left all alone, as though nobody cares for them now.)

.

I added the wikidata info for  Fanny and moved the <references /> to below == Sources ==

Skip I think she has the wrong father in the Wikipedia it says ''Fanny's  1863 death notice named them as Captain Sir Francis Jackson and Cecilia Hotham, but there is no other evidence for this claim.Recent research by historians has identified them instead as Lydia Holloway, an unmarried domestic servant, and John Cain, a footman'' I am not sure how that can be checked, maybe just remove the father from her profile

This is a great example of collaboration.  Great job!  yes yes

Thanks for sharing Melanie, however, it is far from notorious. It is clearly admirable

Oh, I considered her admirable, but some of what she did gained her a degree of notoriety. Just because some of what she did was *coughnotfullylegalcough* doesn't mean she was a bad egg.  Far from it.

Today we comingle "famous" and infamous" as though they're the same thing, but I'd not consider her "infamous" .. just a tad "naughty" at times.

I simply loved the voting thing, so had to share for those less likely to read it.  Especially as we're in March.
I agree Melanie she was a woman ahead of her time, thank you for sharing her profile and thank you Skip for adopting the profile

Learning things like this is what Wikitree is all about. The world would be a horrible place if people did not do naughty things to make it better. Fanny Finch is my new national hero wink
