New Project Suggestion ~ 9/11

Question

Hi!

A member brought a suggestion to me for a new project - that being a project to remember those who were killed or involved with what happened on 9/11.  I said I'd suggest it here and see if there is any interest so please comment if there is.  Thanks!

Interesting.  I definitely agree that some focus on 9/11 is deserved.  I am always a bit uncomfortable though with posting genealogy information on living people.  For people who died in 2001, a large number of their relatives would still be living.

Perhaps we could just create profiles for the victims with the thought that these would be developed at a later date.

My 2 cents: make a category and move on.

Eowyn I see the others point it being so fresh. Maybe a good Idea would be to at this point create a free space for the event and a category that way at a later date when it still isnt so fresh create it at that point. I would also make 9/11 a category then break it up to trade center/ pentagon, shanksville and then either include the people on the planes in either another sub category or include them in the respective incidents.

Did you know that anything you can put on a Free Space Page you can put on a Category Page?  There is no need to create a free space page.

The advantages of doing this is that people viewing the category don't have to go to another page to get the information that is available.

We are trying to make Category Pages the repository of information on the subject.  In the end this might be one of the best uses of Categories.

For example if you go to the category page for Jefferson County, Ohio you will see a huge amount of information on that place:

Every time I make a new locality category I also try to remember to put some resources on that page.  Usually direct links to at least the Wikipedia page and the Find a Grave page for the locality.  If I have other resources I add them.
