Rebecca Fishman turns out to be a rather common name in New York of that time.

With this link, if this is not your girl, plug in some variations using this search tool, such as year in which she was born, where she was born, etc,

The heading of the link where it says records should be selected and here you can enter the details of the person for whom  you search

Thanks! I know it is common... and Jews, unlike Gentiles, seem to be more inclined to forget than remember their probably very uncomfortable histories in the "Old Country" (whether Russia, Germany, Poland, etc).  I have learned little about my father's family. I do know some of my cousins perished in the Holocaust when they refused my grandmother Rebecca's offer of safe haven in New York and instead tried to hide out in Berlin. Sigh. Thanks! It is possible that this is my grandmother. I have to ask if she could have died outside the city or Brooklyn-- my remaining cousins may know.

I appreciate your kindly help.

Isabella
I'm sure this is MY Rebecca Fishman!
