Do I still enter my family when a merge has been offered?

Hi I am confused.

I have come across quite a few names in other peoples tree that will end up in my tree when I get to enter them. I have over 1000 names that I can enter.

Do I enter the names in my tree first then suggest a merge?

I do not want to make duplicates with other peoples trees so how does my tree grow?

What should I do?

Hi Karon! No, don’t do a duplicate. You can edit a profile to add a relationship to an existing profile. For example, if you find a parent of one of your profiles in WikiTree, click the “Add parent” button on your profile. At the top of the edit page you will see a place to enter a profile ID.

A.) If the father has an existing WikiTree profile Help enter their WikiTree ID here:

Right beside the box, you’ll see a button “Go.” Click on that and it will add the parent. You can do this for siblings and children, too.
