Rhoda daughter of Chadwick Chaffee and Abigail Moulton, born 1808 Monson, MA and died 1844. Allegedly moved to iowa where Rhoda and 2 children died but I can't find evidence of them in Iowa.  I am not family but working on some history projects related to one of her sisters.

Thanks this Hiram Merrick does not appear to be the man I am looking for but will look into him further. The Hiram Merrick I have previously found was born in OH or IN and the one I am looking for was more likely born in MA or CT.  My searches on find a grave had not found this person even with Merrick listed as sounds like or similar. I will report back on my investigations. Blessings!
Opps! should have looked at memorial before responding.  The man appears to be a likely match.  And bears further research.  Thanks!

Thanks, your reason for saying before 1832? or was this typo.  I have Hiram and Ann's marriage date as 2 Mar 1845 per Iowa compiled marriages on Ancestry. And  27 May 1832 as the date of hismarriage to Rhoda C Chaffee.  Your previous post indicating Des Moines County, IA opened up search. Thanks! Once I had that Ancestry started finding info that they weren't finding with just Iowa or with Henry County where other relatives were, though i also inicated neighboring counties.  I have what I need now except for info on his first wife's death and the deaths of the children of that marriage.  I have her death as June 25, 1844 and believe the deaths of their children were about the same time. It appears the children listed in the 1860 census were all born to Hiram and Ann.
Hiram married Ann Bingman May 27 1832. so his first wife died before 1832..

He likely  24 or so. How he got too Iowa, with no trains.??? I have researched

many Germans settled in Iowa. They go there somehow.Had a family floated

down Ohio River on boat too Missouri.I wonder if his original marriage was

correct.I only see Tree'S have it no proof, see no childre too her.
