866 Duplicated <references /> error in Queen Juliana profile

Question

The profile for Queen Juliana of the Netherlands has the 866 Duplicated <references /> error.

This is because both the English and the Dutch biography have a Sources section with a <references /> tag. Is this by design and correct (which would mean it can be flagged as a false error) or should it be corrected in some way?

The same database error is present in some other profiles for Dutch royals who have both English and Dutch biographies as well.

I would say the answer is to remove the sources section from the English version of the bio and move all sources to the Dutch section. There really is no reason to have different source sections.

I would go so far as to say the sources section should be completely removed from the scroll boxes and placed in the main body beneath them.

You may also want to check on whether scroll boxes are still approved for use. I think they are discouraged because they require advanced markup/HTML skills so are not compatible with a collaborative effort among members of widely varied skill levels.

In another profile that is similar, I actually removed the scroll boxes all together.

It makes the profile more difficult to edit, and I suspect that sort of formatting is no longer considered acceptable on WikiTree,

There are no <ref> tags in this profile.  So it makes no difference if you have 10 <references /> tags, or none, they don't do anything.

If you have a <ref>, followed by 2 <references /> tags, the identical footnote will appear twice.

Not really the point here, RJ. The double tags throw an error and need to be corrected. Should someone decide to do inlines then it would be a mess. Might as well fix it now than later. Every profile is required to have the following three things.

==Sources==

<references />

They should be in that order and should not be duplicated. It makes a difference because them's the rules.

With terms "Biography" and "Sources" meaningless anchor points in non-English language profiles. In this case correct wording would be "Biografie" and "Bronnen". It is just a courtesy that this profile was set up "dual language".

Having biographies in different languages is definitely encouraged in WikiTree, nothing to do with courtesy necessarily.

Courtesy was referring to dual language, enabling "single language" persons (either English or Dutch) to understand the contents of the profile. It would have been logical to have just the Dutch version (different language).
