Why did James Henry Clarence White say or think he was born in Essex in 1886?

He is the son of Henry /James or James/Henry (same person) who came out from Waltham Abbey, Essex England was one of four children that accompanied their parents Charles R W White and and Eliza Andrews  out to Australia in 1854 two other children were born later in the Lismore area.

I cannot find a marriage for Henry James to a Mary J (AE) O'Driscoll in the UK in Essex or anywhere else prior to and after 1886 when he gives his birth date.  I wondered if it might have been false information on James Henry Clarence Whites marriage certificate when he married Harriet, Mildred, Pierce, Poole on the 19 March 1910 at Drummoyne in Sydney or he simple presummed like his father he was actually born in England or was he the result of an affair, just didn't know his mothers name, possibly had something to hide. As the only other James Henry Clarence White that seemed to be registered anywhere in the world was a photographer in America.

I realize if he was giving false information the hope of doing a trace would be impossible and as he doesn't seem to have exsisted before the 1910 electrol roll I suppose other than the only grandson having a DNA done it is a pretty hopless task to find out any more information.
