This is a really good photo of your parents.  Actually your mom looks like, ''this is my husband and he is a goof and I love him all the same so just take the photo'' and there it is.  Thank you for sharing Randall and congrats on the 13 in 13
Great picture for the week "funny". Your dad was a goof ball. Bet he had your mom laughing all of the time.
Great photo
Your mom looks like she's doing all she can to keep from laughing. They probably had a lot of fun together. Thanks for sharing this photo.

This is a photo taken about 1905 of my grandmother Pearl McCleery with three of her girl friends dressed up like men just to be funny. My grandmother is the second from the left with the cigar. Looks like they all had a hard time getting all their hair under the hats. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/McCleery-119#

by Alexis Nelson G2G6 Pilot (848k points)
This is one of the best photos I’ve ever seen posted here. The back story is what makes it even better!
Thanks Pip, I wonder if it was common for girls to do things like this back then. This is from my grandmother’s Illinois scrapbook.
Wonderful photo Alexis, had i not read these were woman, I would have not thought otherwise.  Just goes to show we all like to have fun when we can and this group of women did a really good job of showing there stuff.  Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks Nicole, when I scanned this I cut off the writing at the bottom of the photo. I have been studying it today, and this is what I come up with: “Mediitation” My wife has gone to the country “Horray Huerery”
I love this picture. What a sense of humor they had. Who would have thought that back then they even had the nerve to dress up as men. Thank you for posting.
Love this wonderful photo Alexis wonderful to se how everyone has fun all dress up

Thank You for sharing
Cheryl, they must have been having fun painting on mustaches and getting into their father’s or brother’s clothing. This is certainly the only way they could have had their pictures made with their legs crossed that way.
Thanks Susan, this is funny because this is my grandmother that was always a very proper lady.
Fooled me!... until I read your write-up. The photo is great -- what a group of women. They probably had a lot of fun together. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks Robin. Yes, she must have had a great time in Illinois with these girls. She moved to Oklahoma shortly before 1907. It was her father’s idea. Even in her later years she made bus trips back to Illinois.
Great photo, lol!
What would have made this even more humorous would be to see their spouses dressed as women! This is a very fun photo! Thanks, Carol Baldwin (Baldwin-3428)
Thank you Carol for your fun comment.

I never seemed to have my camera pointed in the right direction whenever my son was being funny!!

However, when he was 4 years old, he got the chance to pretend to be a Mad Scientist for a few minutes at a Shopping Mall in Toronto, Canada.

My son is now a teenager so this was well over 10 years ago.

Caryl, what a wonderful photo! Thanks for sharing it.
It seems your grand uncle is ignoring the hard-working dog, and the dog is saying, "Please, please notice me!". Thanks for this.
What a good dog! And handsome, too.

One of these young men is my grandmother's uncle. The other one is a friend of him. I don't know what they're doing, but they're having fun for sure.

Here is a photo of my grandmother, Edith (Forrey) Stoner, playing tug-of-war with their dog, Rome, over a fish pond they were in the process of digging. The photos aren't dated, but I'm guessing 1915-ish.

Here is a similar photo of my grandfather, Peter Stoner. He looks like he might fall in!

I thought this was very funny when I ran across it in my Grandfather Ralph Stewart Shane's (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Shane-299) photo album.  An example of an early selfie of he and my Grandmother Louisa Banks Flintoff Shane (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Flintoff-154), either just before or just after their marriage in 1920!   :D

52 Photos Week 13 Funny and this is my 13th week participating.

This week I decided to show you a little of the life of Grace Hazel Whelchel Safford.

Grace was born in Iowa but her family moved to California when she was 3.  I think she took her farm heart with her to California, for she certainly was not a girly, girl.

Whelchel-206-1.jpg

When the other girls were getting dressed for the prom this is what Grace was doing.

500px-Whelchel-206.jpg

And in 1918, the year she got married, she was out catching cats.

500px-Whelchel-206-3.jpg

Another picture of Grace the same year she was married. Obviously she was a big fan of hunting.

500px-Whelchel-206-4.jpg

In 1920, Grace and her husband did not have any children yet, so I guess she didn't feel the need to get dressed up around the house.  That "farm girl at heart" had still not left her.

Whelchel-206-5.jpg

Finally we see the beautiful Grace emerge, and it is the year of her death, 1985. There was a very pretty woman under all of that hunting equipment she carried around for all of those years.

I looked through thousands of my pictures, and I just had to laugh at Grace.  I had several other pictures of her during the years, and she just was not a fancy woman.  I was surprised to find one of her dressed up. So I had a big smile on my face when I saw one. I hope you can see some humor in her story also.

by Cheryl Hess G2G Astronaut (1.8m points)
I love these picture Cheryl.  Grace was not a "girly girl" but she certainly was a beauty.  Her personality really shows in these shots.  Thanks for sharing these!
I love the photo you are sharing Cheryl they are wonderful

Grace look like a wonderful girl to be around.

She certainly like to dress up
Wonderful photos! I truly would have liked to have known Grace. Thank you very much for sharing the photos and the story.
Thank you Caryl, Susan and Robin. I hope you saw humor in Grace. I would have loved to have known her also. Many of her other pictures show her to be a down to earth person. I know we would have gotten along famously.
That mountain lion was just a youngster. It's mama was probably teaching it to hunt on chickens, or something. I've lost muscovies, turkeys and cats to mountain lions, but at my house they leave the chickens to the bobcats, foxes and bear. They don't seem to consider chickens worth it.
Thank you Alison for the information on the lion. I am sure that Grace had a reason for catching it. She was a gentle woman, and loved everyone.
Just out of curiosity, where in California did she live? It looks like either the middle coast ranges or Sierran foothills in northern calif.
She lived in Los Angeles from 1902-1910. Then to the outskirts of LA to Simi Valley for a couple of years. In 1912 they moved to Santa Susana and was there until 1920 when they moved to Washington., where they lived until 1930, then they moved back L.A. where she lived until her death in 1985.
My mother's family moved to the LA area in 1906 and 1907. My grandfather taught at Pasadena High school and Pasadena City College, his brother taught high school in Orange. Their sister and her husband lived in Long Beach; he was a building contractor. My great grandfather was on the Orange city council, and was mayor of Orange.
Great pics and story.

My great uncles were a couple of cut-ups. I have no explanation for this, so I will leave the commentary to your imagination. I should note that they were only related by marriage. Lou (on the right) married Chic's sister. I've now completed 13 in 13!

This is a cartoon found in the Library of Congress and concerns Mrs Rowley confronting her husband, Admiral Rowley, aboard a Man of War ship about another woman in his bed.

500px-52_Photos_Week_13_Funny-7.jpg

I can't say with any certitude that I am related to Admiral Rowley, but I am trying to find the connection.

OK. That wasn't appreciated. How about this one? It is of my siblings giving our Manx cat Bobby a bath. He got into some rather sticky substances. He would put up with this regularly, but he didn't like it when my brother would sneak up on him and push him in the swimming pool while he was drinking. It did keep the fleas off him. In return, Bobby would leave "presents" of his stool on my brother's pillow whenever he could get into his room. Of course my brother pulled other tricks on the cat.

Yes, this along with 52-Ancestors is my 13th of 52, so I am a quarter of a way through.
