How can they have an exact date of birth for her?

It seems that if you can find her exact date of birth, you can find her parents and siblings. Anyway you slice it, you can't have an exact date of birth without knowing who the parents were.

There are a number of ways to have a date of birth without knowing who the parents are. A death record without parents listed, a marriage record, a headstone are a few that spring to mind..I'm not saying any of those apply in this instance, and I see no evidence for this birthdate, but having a date of birth doesn't mean you must know who the parents are and most certainly wouldn't tell you who any siblings are..

At that particular time in history, the vital records would have to have been recorded in a church. Who is going to bury you besides your parents? I can understand having a roundabout date of birth, but not the exact date. If they can find an exact date of birth without knowing the parents names back then, gives no one in modern times an excuse for not knowing the exact date of birth or death.

Most parents die well before their children. I know my parents won't be burying me. How about you? Not every record has parents listed just because it has a birth date listed.

Actually in the BMD online Death Index for New Zealand, all deaths after 1970, are now recorded with the exact date of birth (as well as the date of death) without recording the parents names. You have to actually buy the death certificate to find out if the parents names are listed.

Also in New Zealand, census records prior to the 1960s were not kept, They were used only for statistical purposes and then destroyed.

NZ Census records since the 1960s have been kept but the records are not yet available to the public since 100 years have not yet passed.
