David M Taylor from Braxton County VA to Woodstock, IL - Who are his parents?

I would be forever grateful to learn who were the parents of my GG grandfather, David M. Taylor (DMT). His obituary indicates he was born in Braxton County, VA (now WV). Family legend is he is a descendant of a James Taylor who came to VA in 1697, but I have no proof. I am looking for information regarding 1) the parents of DMT, and 2) circumstances surrounding the Death of DMT and his wife, Martha Jane Dufield/Duffield (MJD), both of whom died within ten months of each other at a young age(33+29). 1) The 1850 CA census for DMT indicates that his parents were born in VA. But the 1905 WI census for CDT indicates that his father, DMT was born in Ireland. 2) Probate documents filed 8 Apr 1857 in McHenry, IL say DMT died 24 Apr 1857, ten months after MJD. The sister of DMD was Nancy (J?) Taylor. She was married to Jonathan Thorn/Thorne and she relinquished her rights as DMTs executrix. Jonathan and Nancy married 10 Sep 1856 in Walworth County, WI. A document lists a David Taylor born in 1823 as having been imprisoned in England in 1842, during the Staffordshire Pottery riots (England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892; Class: HO 27; Piece: 67; Page: 233 link) - Is it possible that he might have instead been paroled and sent to the US? An interesting anecdote is that he apparently went to California in the 1849 Gold Rush, as he was listed as a miner in CA in the 1850 Census. He apparently returned to IL and died in 1857. As told by my grandmother: after DMT died, and consistent with CDT's obituary, the 5 orphan sons of DMT and MJD went to live with different people. One son (My great grandfather (CDT)) lived with Varnum Arnold and later lived in Darien WI. He lived in Darien his entire life and is buried in Darien Cemetery. He married Elizabeth M Wagner and later married Emma Jane Bulger. Emma Jane Bulger is my great-grandmother. Thank you so much for any help - Mark Allen Leverenz
