Russell Family in Tennesee - is Nancy a daughter?

On the 1850 US Census for Uriah Wiley Russell, there is a woman named Nancy Acre listed.  FamilySearch listed her as a daughter, possibly a widow returning to her family.  Since her age and sex also filled a hole in the 1840 US Census for Wiley Russell, I added her as a daughter to my Ancestry tree. I was very new to genealogy when I did it.

When I joined Wikitree and added my family tree, I included Nancy (Russell) Acre, with the 1850 Census as a source.  Now that I am more experienced, I am questioning that decision.  I have been doing research on her and the only info I have that barely connects her is that she was possibly born in Alabama instead of Tennessee and the Russell son that would be closest in age to her was also possibly born in Alabama instead of Tennessee.  However, she doesn't appear as their child in my grandmother's book [[space: Velvia Owens' Family Book]] which has been pretty accurate when listing family members.

I am going to write up a research note to explain all this on her profile but I also think I should disconnect her from the family until I find more information. Before I do that, can I please get some feedback??!!

To disconnect her you would need to change her LNAB, but is she Acre or Unknown?

If you disconnect I would put a copy of your research on each of the profiles, so anyone looking from Russell or Acre side will catch it.

I'm still doing research so hopefully I'll find a record that makes it clear if this is the birth name or married name.  Thanks for responding.

I went to the Family Search profile for her and noticed they have flagged a potential duplicate. Nancy J. Russell who married Alvy W. McGoughey in Oct 1865 in Alabama. Unfortunately the only records currently attached are two records for their marriage - with no image available.

I would probably leave her attached at the moment with a Note explaining as you did in this question why you originally entered her in based on the 1850 Census and that more research is necessary to verify.

I also find it interesting to note the order of the family listed with her next to last between 4-year old Martha and 1-year old James. It may not mean anything, but it always piques my interest when the members of a household aren't listed strictly by age.

Often its a widowed daughter (or divorced later on) living with their parents with their own children, listed after the daughter's name.  However, in this case James doesn't have her name so I doubt he is her son.
