Is there a project that covers these pre-1700 people? Hunsrück area of Germany

I want to help contribute to the deep genealogy on our shared tree.

1.) Geographical region and time period:

Hunsrück/Mosel area of Rhineland-Palatinate/Germany - 1550s-1700

2.) Some example names and dates:

Neu, Tatsch, Echternach, Rössler, Hildebrand, Lützenberger and many many more, roughly from the 1550s onwards

3.) Source(s) for my information on them:

several genealogical compilations (for example family books on Thalfang by Markus Detemple and Armin Giebel, family book on Pilmeroth by Peter Schößler etc.)

Before I get started adding and changing profiles, can you tell me if there is a WikiTree project that would cover these people? If so, how do I get in touch with the project members to coordinate and collaborate on the profiles?

I would also like to know how to enter pre-1700 dates in the matching boxes of the profiles - I usually get error messages and can't save the profiles of these ancestors, or only if I remove the date in question.. I might have overlooked something here...

Thanks, Anne

Hi Anne, we are starting a new regional team. The regional team will be divided into "state" teams. I am currently working on this, but I will add your name to the Rhineland-Palatine team, and let you know as soon as the team page is created and ready :)

as far as the dates go, I am unaware of what would be causing that. But will be happy to look into it with you once I finish working on the regional teams :-)

Hello, not sure how much you still into this... I plan to start  a free space page for Hunsrück-Area, to capture "local notables" and some interesting stuff e.g. links to relevant historical items like the Brasilian/Hunsück relationship as I run into them... like Rottmann, Von Drais, Von Horn etc.  - intended coverage is the geogaphic region Hunsrück. It is on my to do list for longer... and I wanted to try to do at least one per month as a personal challenge. I am located in Kirchberg, therefore I would start with the ones in my hometown. if you want to join this regional challenge let me know.

Hello Alexandra-Brigitte,

I am still into this. I started One Place Studies for the villages of Dhronecken and Allenbach where most of my ancestors came from (both near to Erbeskopf). I also live in this area.

Notables whom I would add are some protestant parsons (Musculus, Glitzenhirn, Hildebrandt etc.) and some bailiffs (Keller, Patrick, Winckelsass and more). They are maybe of special interest only but the noble entanglements of the Wild- and Rheingrafen are too much for me :)

I could also add some court employees from Birkenfeld.
Alexandra, you might want to share that you meanwhile started https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Hunsrück

Hello Anne,

Hopefully one of the moderators can help with pre-1700 profiles.  I don't know if a project for the Hunsrück has been created yet, but it certainly be interesting if there were one.

I personally have Schmidt ancestors (Ludwig) from Thalfang who emigrated to Werbass, Hungary.  My Dietrich and Schneider ancestors may also have come from the Hunsrück area, though so far, I find no records.

Kind regards,

Kelly Dazet

Hi Kelly,

by now I can add these profiles, I think.

Do you have access to the Thalfang family books by Detemple and Giebel? If you need some look-ups, feel free to message me privately.

Many regards, Anne
