Has anyone had someone delete, remove, edit family information without telling you why?

When I got onto Wikitree and went to my Navigation Home Page, I noticed in my family activity feed, that someone named (name redacted) edited/deleted some of the important information that was on my trees. I took over for most of the family when someone abandoned the trees and what the information was, was correct. SO I do not understand why he would do this. There was no explanation to me as to why he would do this. I have contacted him and one the mentors, but I need to know if someone has had something like this happened to them. Thank you.

Edited to redact name.

Stephanie, you should edit out the other member's name and make the question anonymous as to who you are talking about.  We don't want to put anyone on the spot and/or make them feel uncomfortable.  You have a great question that can be answered, but not about a specific person.
Thank you. I did what you suggested.
Don't forget to edit the name out of the text of your message also ;-)

I looked at the change logs and I see what you're talking about, removing family members without leaving a message or coordinating.  You should follow the problems with members help page and it will walk you through the procedures to take:

Stephanie, it's probably happened to most of us a few times.  This is NOT condoned by WikiTree or the community here.  Although we all have a lot of editing access to a lot of profiles here, we are expected to communicate with other potentially interested parties before making any significant changes.

You've been given good advice already about how to deal with this situation, but I just want to set your mind at ease a little, if I can.  If you click the Changes tab, you'll see a list of all changes made to a profile and can click any of them to display the before and after versions, showing EXACTLY what was changed.  You also have an option to restore a profile to any previous state, so all the previous work that had been removed isn't lost.

Yes. Twice. I contacted ''help with problems with members'' and they took care of the problems. One was easily solved. The other member was removed from WikiTree because he couldn't follow WikiTree guidelines and rules. It takes a while to redo all the work and get the profiles back in order but it's not impossible.

Good luck and don't worry. You will be helped.

It doesn't happen often, but I think it happens to most of us.

I had an episode of this recently, that took many hours for me and another manager to restore.

The perpetrator was very apologetic and seems to have acted innocently. We are just hoping that, as per our advice, they ask a question or contact managers the next time they make a "finding".
