How do I link to a website without having the whole URL show? [closed]

I have seen on various source lists that people name the source and then there is something like" link" or just a few words.  You can click on link or whatever and it takes you to the online source (archives,org, Hathitrust, etc).  Could someone please tell me how I can do that  Please explain it to me as if I am technologically impaired,  Thank you in advance,
