One ammendment to the information in the article is that the FDA has shut down 23andme's health information, at least for now. You can no longer get health results, as of November 2013 - or at least until 23andme can get the FDA off it's back.

Another point of note is that gedmatch will match you to anyone who uploads data there, no matter what service they used; I don't know how the services compare on things like numbers of snps, but I match with people who have tested on multiple services and the amount of shared dna is usually fairly consistent. (I have only tested with 23and me
