Betty Fox,  no not him.  This is a hard one. William Jasper Hill, father to my grandfather James Franklin Hill (father to my dad Doyle Albert Hill).

Story goes William killed 2 men on the Cherokee Strip at a Dance Strip.  Later moved to Arkansas, change last name to Hill so he would not be caught.  My grandfather James was 16 yrs old when William was killed.  William was 32 yrs old when he died.  He was stomped to death by men on horses to take his still.  William, they say was 1/2 Cherokee.  The family wouldn't talk about it, they were called black dutch.  Guessing William died about 1895.  He married Mary Jane Melton (my great grandmother, nothing on her before 1897. She remarried in 1897 to Thomas Triplett had a son Delphie Triplett 1900-1963.
Have you found newspaper articles or anything concerning this incident? I can find no paperwork indicating that such a person as William Jasper Hilderbrand born in Oklahoma even existed.
Using Ancestry.com, I can find no Hilderbrands in the 1870 census of all of Oklahoma.
No, can't find anything.  Do not know where he was born.  Can't find him on any census.
