Are you a descendant of a Baumgärtner/Baumgardner from PA or MD?

Seeking descendants of Baumgärtner/Baumgardner (and other spelling variants) families from Pennsylvania and Maryland who have DNA tested.

I am working on a long term project to determine relationships between the numerous early Baumgärtner/Baumgardner families utilizing DNA triangulation.

So far, my spreadsheet contains 30 folks whose Baumgardner genealogy is confirmed via "paper trail" documentation whom we know are related via shared ancestry. There are about 10 more for whom the connection has not yet been made. I have made several DNA triangulations within this group.

If you are a Baumgardner descendant who has DNA tested, would you please help expand this project by uploading your DNA data (and any others in your family who have tested) to both Gedmatch Genesis and MyHeritage? Both are free.

If you haven't yet DNA tested, would you please consider testing yourself and/or asking the oldest living descendant in your family to do so?

My own earliest known Baumgärtner/Baumgardner ancestor is Christian Baumgärtner, Sr.  who was born in Lancaster County, PA.

He married and raised his family in York County, PA then migrated to Centre County, PA. His known descendants spread to Mifflin County, PA; Centre County, PA; Clarion County, PA; Clearfield County, PA; Fulton County, PA; Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, and Nebraska.

There is another Baumgardner line connected to Christian Sr.'s which is from Maryland.

Me... I am a descendant of Daniel Baumgardner/Bumgardner of Chillisquaque Twp., Northumberland Co., PA. His son, Joseph, moved to Centre County, (Bellefonte). See my profile Entrikin-5 on WikiTree for my Gedmatch ID. My mother has also been tested as this is my maternal line. My line goes through  Daniel, daughter Elizabeth Bumgardner m. John Snyder, grandson Joseph Snyder, great grandson Thomas S. Snyder ( migrated to Clay County KS) 2nd great grandson, Glenn Ward Snyder ( b. Clay co. KS), 3rd great granddaughter, Iris Elaine Snyder, to me... Kie Entrikin Zelms.

Daniel is elusive... he went to "a western country" in 1809 to pay on some land and never returned. Later census records state Elizabeth Baumgardner Snyder's father is born in Prussia.
Thanks, Kie!  Will be looking into whether there are any matches and let you know.
Thanks, Jana! Daniel is a complete brick wall for me. I hope you find a connection.

My wiki ID is Kauffman-1469. We have several family links. My Baumgardner is from Switzerland to York to Mifflin County, Pa. My DNA data is register with wiki, Genmatch, and others. I am going to have my mtdna soon.

Thanks for your generous work.

My Baumgardner line is also from Switzerland to Mifflin County PA. And my Grandmother was a Kauffman.

My Grandfather was Nelson Baumgardner.

My gut tells me that my Samuel Hughes is the son of Jacob Hughes and Mary Baumgardner.  His brother's name is Christian Baumgardner Hughes.  Sounds pretty good!  My aunt (age 90), kit #A807074 matches on Chromosome 15 to the three of you, but only if you drop the parameters.  6.2 is the highest match.  But, all on the same chromosome in the same area sounds pretty good to me.  You are welcome to add her kit.
I have both Hughes and Baumgardner/Baumgartner in my family, but have not been able to get very far. My Great Grandmother was from and is buried in Henry County, Illinois. I just sent away for a kit.
Just to add (since I've been sharing findings via private email)... there are a few intriguing matches with some of the other Baumgardners on the spreadsheet. Smaller segment matches that involve 3 Hughes/Baumgardner descendants, but no triangulations... yet. However, the ancestry would be distant and this may take time to prove. It's a promising start.
