Thanks to Andy Denham I joined WikiTree in January/February 2017 after receiving an email request from him. It seemed that we were doing the same family tree but on different websites.
My great grandfather was a younger brother to Andy’s 3 times great grandfather which makes Andy and I third cousins twice removed.
During these two years there has been a lot of emails between us, and, between the two of us we have made a lot of family entries going back to the mid to late 1600’s.
At the end of 2016 I received a load of photographs, postcards and letters belonging to my family (my grandads older brother) via a lady in Swansea.
Some of this correspondence which were postcards belonged to Andy’s 2 times great grandmothers address, which I passed on to him by post. Also in 1906 a letter notifying my great uncle of the death of his uncle (my great grandfather’s brother).
On Wednesday 3 April 2019I met Andy Denham in his home town for the first time, we went for coffee and cake. In the early 1900’s, this coffee shop belonged to his late family and was a sweet and chocolate shop. We seemed to talk for ages.
As WikiTree was very new to me then, I have been very grateful for Andy’s continuous support.
I do the majority of my research through familysearch.com but if I have trouble finding information I go to my local library and use the Ancestry website, it’s not ideal but it works.
