You could check back in the censuses to see when and where they first appeared together ( Is it South Carolina ??) .

I know that they were bith born in Robertson County Tennesse, but their first child was born in 1833 in Illinois.  And I have been to Tennessee and Illinois and no marriage record anywhere.
