Why is someone I know is my g-g-grandfather called my 15tth cousin on relationship finder?

Do you have all the connections from your profile up to that person included in wikitree?  That person shows that he only has one private son, so no one can really help when everyone is listed as private, but that would be my 1st guess.  If you have the connections to him in wiki tree as a cousin, not as your grandfather, that would be one reason.

Thanks for your message. I am answering here so that anyone else who may be having a problem with the relationship finder will be able to see it.

The relationship finder only follows the lines you have established by building and connecting your branches to the global tree. If there is a profile for one of your 2x great grandfathers but you have not yet connected to him as a 2 x great grandfather then that relationship won't show in the relationship finder. It sounds as if this man is also related to you through your father's line in some way and that's why he is showing as a 15th cousin.

Continue to build your tree until you can attach a profile to the profile of your 2x great grandfather and the relationship will show properly. The relationship finder is only as good as the tree you've built. It can't determine the relationships that you haven't entered yet. You only have one gggrandfather (George Shannon Anderson) currently connected to you. Connect the rest and then try the relationship finder again.

The only great-great-grandfather you currently have in your tree comes up as your great-great-grandfather in the relationship finder. Did you perhaps click on the wrong person's profile?

Maybe you are related in several different ways - and you may not know it yet.

Which person is coming up with that relationship?  That might help to understand or help you figure it out.

Anderson-39057 is showing as your 2nd great grandfather.  I don't see another 2nd great grandfather in your connected tree, so that may be the problem that the person you are saying is your 2nd great grandfather is not connected to you yet.
