Challenge of the week: Improve orphaned profiles [closed]

Hi WikiTreers,

Will you join our "Data Doctors" Challenge of the week?

Once again, Aleš has come up with something to help us work together on a category of profiles that need our help. This time it's "orphans," i.e. profiles without Profile Managers.

Here is the list of orphaned profiles that could use some TLC.

Will you join us?

Every time you record a status update it will earn you a point. The member with the most points at 11:59pm EDT on Sunday night will get the Winner badge this week and the bragging rights. But we'll all benefit from a neater, cleaner shared tree.

the 2 servers are on different continents. It could just be bogged down. Either trying later will fix it or Ales will have to reset it. (sorry no swoosh over the S dude but every time I try now, it closes the window.)

I've set status on 10, with 6 proposed merges.  I don't know whether I missed something to be tracked.

Is it just me or is the Challenge Tracker not loading. Here is what I'm seeing today when I save a biography:

challenge tracker has been coming up for me only when I added a source following a merge (in the orphaned and duplicate marriage categories.  It give me only the connectors, integrators, and sourcerers, so I've picked the latter.

Those trackers are for the other challenges. For Data Doctor challenge you must set the suggestion status.

I would suggest going to your profile and in the drop-down under your Wiki-ID run "Orphaned Family" to find YOUR family that you might want to adopt. (sorry if that was confusing) If they are in yellow they "may" be able to be adopted. Remember, you don't have to adopt every single one.

I'm sorry this is confusing.  Are you saying that those of us who have the "Orphaned Family" disabled will not be tracked under the challenge of the week?  Up to now, this hasn't bothered me, as I generally run into the orphans of interest, although without knowing they may be duplicates.  Anyway, it sometimes happens that adoption of a profile, if it not a duplicate, and sourcing it, leads to it being put under PPP without us necessarily remaining as a PM, or, as under the coming cleanup, a project box being put on without us knowing what linkage is expected to stay clear of Suggestions.

No. It is a fast way to check if any of your Ancestors have been orphaned so you can adopt them. That way you can be PM of your own family members if they had gotten orphaned by someone. The "Orphaned Family" option has nothing to do with the challenge itself.

Thanks for pointing out this feature Steven. I adopted 20+ orphaned profiles this week that are genetically linked to me. Happy to be able to give them some TLC.

I was so excited to see the orphans challenge ... I like working on orphans, especially after receiving certain types of comments or the dreaded nasty-gram about work I’ve done in good faith. So here I go ... I hope everyone has a great time with these  ✌️
