I currently work on the Ponca tribe. I find myself making connections into the Santee Sioux tribe. The town of Santee, Nebraska and the Santee reservation are right down the road from Niobrara, Nebraska, where a lot of Northern Ponca are. Actually, the Santee reservation was traditional Ponca land before the removal/return of the Ponca. There is a lot of intermarriage in these tribes. When I put a Native American sticker on a Santee, should I put the tribal name as Santee, Santee Sioux, or Santee Dakota? Does anyone object to me adding sources I find to the Sioux project page? Should there be sub-sections of the Sioux project page for information specific to the tribes within the Sioux Nation?
I have created a profile for Edna (Frazier) Peniska, a Santee woman who married Joseph Peniska, who was Ponca. Apparently she was an author and known Santee tribal historian who was interviewed for several books. Is anyone in the Native Americans project currently working on Sioux profiles or have opinion/advice? The project page didn't have anyone listed except the leaders in the project box.
