Andrew, thank you.
I have been trying to find a 'John Babcock'  He would be my 3rd great grandfather. The info I have on him is almost nothing! He lived in orange county at the least around 1887 have no birth or death record, was married to  'Alice Jones' (born 1862 died 1910) They had one chile Arthur Gillette (Babcock) Jones who took his maternal grandmother last name in place of 'Babcock' he was my great grandfather (born 1817 died 1951) After her marriage to 'John Babcock' came to a end for some reason Alice remarried 'William H. Brush' (born 1855 died 1921) in 1892 and had a child 'Mary (Brush) Smith' (born 1894 died 1979) other then the fact they stayed in the Orange County New York, Monroe, Tuxedo, Southfields area all their lives this is all I have about 'John Babcock' If anyone has any information that could help me I would be forever grateful.

Is this record for your Alice Jones:

Alice Jones was 18 and living in Monreo, Orage County, New York. she was born about 1862 in New York (parents also born in New York):

"United States Census, 1880," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZXR-32T : 8 September 2017), Alice Jones in entry for James Jones, 1880; citing enumeration district ED 21, sheet 365A, NARA microfilm publication T9 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d), roll 0910; FHL microfilm 1,254,910:

Also found a James Babcock with wife, Tillie, and sister-in-law, Betsey A Jones:

"United States Census, 1900," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MSLS-39W : accessed 17 April 2019), Betsy A Jones in household of James Babcock, Cornwall Township, Election Districts 2-3, Orange, New York, United States; citing enumeration district (ED) 3, sheet 12B, family 269, NARA microfilm publication T623 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 1972.); FHL microfilm 1,241,139.

My "Babcocks" are in Michigan David Sr. and David Jr.

1755-1831 England is where Sr. was born. Possible wife is Susan. immigrated to Michigan.

1808 1838 David Jr. is in Macomb County MI married to Minerva Randall (she remarried to Dayton St. Clair MI)

David and Minerva- their daughter Susan Marie married Thomas Sayers and lived in Saginaw Michigan

Susan and Thomas had boy Wilbur Benjamin and four girls their last names are Sayers living in Saginaw.

I don't know how to take the name back to England. I'd like to learn how. I haven't found anything on brothers and sisters etc.

Sandy Peoples
add Michigan to the states?
Thank you for your help. I have all that info about my great, great grandmother Alice, She married John Babcock. I can find nothing to help me find who this John Babcock was. They had a son Arthur Gillette Babcock you used his mother's maiden name Jones in later years. 5 years after the birth of their son Arthur Alice remarried William Brush.

I have found nothing more of John Babcock, not dob, dod. I only know he lived in Orange county NY maybe towns of Monroe, Southfields.

Sandy, Michigan has been added. We have 2 profiles for England and growing... One migrated to Massachusetts and the other to Rhode Island.

No problem, that's what we do, Help out when we can. Do you have better dates for Arthur Gillette (Babcock) Jones (born 1817 died 1951)? Did you mean 1871 birth?

I am one of two leaders. We both welcome more volunteers to add their BABCOCKs/BADCOCKs, and/or join our study, and/or volunteer as a leader. Your level of particpation is YOUR CHOICE.

A descendant's direct ancestor in my STEWART/LOOK line married Remember (Babcock) Stewart. Currently I have added her siblings and other Name Study participant(s) have added her ancestors. I am working on finding more sources for this Kings county, Rhode Island line, some of whom removed to New York, Connecticut or have kept their locations a mystery due to lack of sources.

Communication is the beginning of Collaboration.

Your categories are flawlessly set up with content and everything!! NICE WORK.
Natalie, thank you. The hardest part is trying to find suitable examples to cut and paste.

I'm not sure about the flawless part though. I thought I set up a category for England but I'm not seeing it.
Must have forgot to save it. It's there now!

I have a number of Babcocks that I manage, going back as far as this one: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Babcock-3322

I'll add them to the study.

I am in Nova Scotia, and although my Babcocks are not in Nova Scotia, I'll help where I can.

This is my most recent Babcock ancestor: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Badcock-363  her son Jesse Bent came to Nova Scotia.

Welcome aboard Stuart. That's a lot of BABCOCKs. That should help someone find an ancestor or cousin. I can see I'll be adding more categories.

How do we deal with people that relocate, category wise?  For example, this one went from CT to NS.  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Woodworth-510

I just put her in both.

I've been adding the birth location on the template and than adding categories for any other locations.

If they relocate to another part of the same county or state just add the template for the common location.

Remember that the template goes in the biography section. I still have trouble remembering that it doesn't go up with the categories.

My lineage is through Amy Babcock https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Babcock-3247 the daughter of Ichabod Babcock Jr and Sarah Garlick (Pike) Darrow. This particular family migrated from Rhode Island to Vermont. The borders back then were different Samuel Gibbs Married Amy Babcock and lived in Quebec for a short time also see his profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Gibbs-4800

Amy and I are 6th cousins 5x removed.

We are 11th cousins once removed

The common ancestor for the three of us is Edmund Perry.

I see the connection Pat! Wow! He is my 11th great grandfather and the surname “Perry” very very interesting : )

Yes, I would very much like to join.  My Babcock ancestors are from New York and northeastern Pennsylvania.  Probably originally Rhode Island/Connecticut, but connection not proven.

We could use all the help we can get. Send request for trusted list :)
Welcome, Scott. I have about a dozen of the thirty BABCOCKs in Rhode Island. We could find new cousins.

My husband is descended from Babcocks.  His brick wall is William Babcock https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Babcock-2553

My husband and his father have DNA matches who appear to be descended from Harris Babcock https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Babcock-418 but I am unsure if/how he relates to William.

Harris is from Rhode Island, and I see a lot of the project members are researching Rhode Island Babcocks, so maybe y'all will be able to find something!  If anyone wants to take a look, I appreciate any help :)

I checked out Babcock Genealogy and found Harris but not William.

I'll look for parent possibilities for William in the early 1800s US Census.

You could check the BABCOCK Genealogy page for those living where William (Check for descendants of  Harris in Connecticut/New York/Ohio) and Harris (Check for descendants of  William in Rhode Island/Vermont) between 1760s and 1880s.

Hopefully you can find someone from both lines in the same time and place. The look for a possible connection between them.

This is a hard one. I looked , but can't find him.

All I can find is that there is a set of Babcock Family members that were in Genesee or near Little Genesee who are associated with the Seventh Day Baptist Church and some SDB records are quoted on their FindAGraves. They all seem to descend from Abel Babcock (b1739?), through Peleg Babcock, and Peleg Babcock Jr (b1801) https://archive.org/details/babcockgenealogy00babc/page/314, page 313-314. None of these Pelegs have wikiprofiles, by the way.

Peleg Babcock Jr. definitely lived in Little Genesee for a while given some of his kids were born there and his wife died there. Peleg could be a brother or cousin, maybe. If you can find a way to search the Seventh Day Baptist Records it might be worth checking on that location and last name...like which Babcock came there first? Often these SDB families moved West in extended family groups.

Here's Peleg Jr's Wife's FindAGrave so you can see the SDB excerpts.
