I still don't understand how to correctly input my SOURCE data. Any suggestions?

I hope I can help you. I just this moment learned to add a source with inline citation. At least it worked and hopefully it was done the right way. :)

Type your information in the biography.
Example:

Here is my paragraph and all the information I want you to know.

Then add the Source information at the end like this:

Here is my paragraph and all the information I want you to know. <ref>from a book I found on the web</ref>

Make sure you have the following entered below the Biography section. This will create the inline citation numbers.

== Sources ==
<references/>

Give it a test by adding the above as a test on a profile. You can click PREVIEW to see how it looks without saving.

is that it is hard to see where the paragraph ends and the source begins in the biography, particularly when there are several sources for one fact. I prefer to daisy-chain them thus::

Here is my paragraph information I want you to know. 
<ref>
Concise details of source including reference numbers, page number, repository, URL if web based.
</ref><ref>
Concise details of  source including reference numbers, page number, repository, URL if web based.
</ref>

I saved the following information from the book used in the below example. Basically, you want to document what is your source, how can someone else find it to see for themselves, and if it is not readily available an abstract or transcript would be nice.

Citation Components

A citation has the following components:

Author, Title, Publisher, Locator

• Author: format can be "First Name Last Name" or "Last Name, First Name."
• Title: format can be Title or Title. Also article titles may precede publication title.
• Publisher: format often includes publisher location, name and year published and sometimes in parentheses.
• Locator: usually a page number or range of page numbers depending upon the source type.

In addition, for online sources you may need:

• Accessed: list date when source located as in "accessed on March 29, 2009."
• Examined: list search criteria as in "examined for any reference to 'xyz'."

The Chicago Style is preferred on Wikitree:

Chicago - refers to The Chicago Manual of Style which is a style guide for American English. It is the style most often used by genealogists.
