Arrived on the Buckinghamshire ship in Dec.1838 to Adelaide, South Australia with their two children Elizabeth and Frederick. He set up a Tailors shop in Adelaide, South Australia He also spoke Welsh. His wife was Dinah Thomas nee Booth, then following Dinah's death,Mary Williams. We have a copy of his marriage with Dinah Booth  at St Bartholomews Church, Edgbaston, Birmingham.Witnesses were Mary?Booth and ?John or Hugh Cadwallader I am looking for his UK ancestors and so far not having any luck. I was hoping to find a baptism certificate or something with his parents name on it. I did find a record in a book that he had a Tailors business on Bradford St. Birmingham just prior to the family moving to Adelaide.

Thank you Frank Gill. I have a date of birth for Samuel Thomas as 30-1-1805 which I also wonder could be his baptism date rather than DOB??  I also don't know Samuel's second name. It does seem very possible that his parents could be Samuel & Elizabeth as could be family names...

Thank you so much for for your input.
Good digging Deb. I observe that Wrockwardine is closer to Wales than Birmingham. If Samuel was not born in Wales, I wonder whether his parents were Welsh. It might have been a language they spoke at home.

I also thank Frank Gill for answering this question. I've just checked Familysearch.org. Two Samuel Thomas were christened in Wrockwardine in 1805.

Frank, what information suggests that Samuel was christened 24 Nov 1805 and not 14 April 1805?
