Is there a project that covers these pre-1700 people?

I want to contribute to the deep genealogy on our shared tree. Here are people I can add, along with dates and locations:

  • Charles Massey 1686-1749 and his spouse Ann Macon 1698-1728 New Kent, Virginia

Here are the sources I am using:

  • FamilySearch.org

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Hi David,

Welcome to WikiTree and thanks for helping to build and source our shared tree! Please edit your question to specify the FamilySearch.org source collection(s) that you will be using. The Family Search site has collections of source records as well as family trees (family trees aren't adequate sources for such profiles). When citing sources on WikiTree profiles, we need to be specific in the source citations. Hopefully someone will come along with some guidance to help you find a particular project that may be appropriate for coordination for those profiles.

Profiles already exist for the people you mention:

Charles Massie (1681-1749)

and

Ann (Macon) Massey (1684-1732)

They probably fall under the US Southern Colonies Project.

You can check the links to see if the sources you have to add are already there. If you have already created duplicate profiles, they will need to be merged. There is some difference in dates, so you have to look at all the references and determine the correct dates before effecting the merge.
