Profile of Ann Bray/Bray-379 reports she was born 1543 at Wherwell, Hampshire, England, the daughter of Edward Bray (aka Sir Edward Bray) and his [second wife] Beatrice Shirley.

A mid 1800s era peerage work, below, reports about Sir Edward Bray. There are three children reported born of his marriage to "Beatrice, daughter of R. Shirley." These children are Edward Bray, Owen Bray and Beatrice Bray.

See John Burke, A genealogical and heraldic history of the commoners of Great Britain and Ireland, enjoying territorial possessions or high official rank; but univested with heritable honours, 4 vols. (1835-1838), 3:245 for "Sir Edward Bray, knt. of Vachery Park..."; digital images, Hathi Trust (accessed 2014)

A review of the entry for Sir Edward Bray in the source noted found no mention of a daughter Ann, nor does the surname "Bate" appear. Many locations are mentioned in the sketch, but the places Wherwell, Hampshire, or Lydd, Kent, were not found.

Perhaps others are able to identify more modern peerage accounts about Sir Edward Bray that suggest he had a daughter named Ann?

If not, might we sever the link from Ann Bray to these parents?

WikiTree reports this Ann Bray/Bray-379 as the mother-in-law of Rev. Stephen Bachiler, an association that I have not found documented. While there are still other problems associated with the Bray-379 profile, this G2G post is intended only to resolve the link from Bray-379 to her reported parents.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to provide.

Proceeding to sever the link from Ann Bray to parents.

As with all genealogical work, findings are such as these are subject to review and update based on improved historical discovery and insight.

Hi Wayne,

Is the source you are referring to not the same source linked in the post? See John Burke, A genealogical and heraldic history of the commoners of Great Britain and Ireland, enjoying territorial possessions or high official rank; but univested with heritable honours, 4 vols. (1835-1838), 3:245 for "Sir Edward Bray, knt. of Vachery Park..."; digital images, Hathi Trust (accessed 2014)

If so, please help me identify any daughter of Sir Edward named "Ann" who you feel may have been recorded in this materal. (Sir Edward's son, Owen had a dau. Ann, but her marriage is mentioned to Thomas Dolman.)
