Are you sure he was born in USA?

Other spellings are Lames or Lohm .

From the information, I have found he was born on 8 April 1798 North Carolina, United States. Died 25 September 1879 Muhlenberg, Kentucky, United States. I attached the site I got this information from.

http://www.kykinfolk.com/muhlenberg/fgs/familyL/lam-cate.htm

Here are Peter and his family in the 1850 census (Year: 1850; Census Place: District 2, Christian, Kentucky; Roll: M432_196; Page: 385B; Image: 204)

Peter Lamb
Age:53
Birth Year:abt 1797
Birthplace:North Carolina
Home in 1850:District 2, Christian, Kentucky, USA
Gender:Male
Family Number:410
Household Members:
Name               Age
Peter Lamb         53
Goodwin Lamb       51

It looks like the census taker had some trouble with the family.  Listed next as family 411are what looks like Peter and Goodwin's children,
Elijah    28
Nelly     25
Doritha   23
Sally     17
Rachel    15
William   13
Peter     11
Martha     9

then another Martha, age 28, (Elijah's wife)
followed by their children John     2
                           William  1

The 1860 census lists Peter, Goodwin, Nelly, Dorothy, Rachel, and July
with Elijah and his wife, Martha, and four children Johh, William, James (?), and Peter
