I am looking for the father of John Thompson who married Cynthia Green. John was born around 1785.

Believe his grandparents may have been James Thompson and Elizabeth Stump. Lived in Tennessee.

Thank you for responding so quickly Marion. I have not set up a profile yet as I am trying to get the correct information. I have used familysearch.org, Ancestery and various other sites as well.  One Member of Ancestery believes his father’s name was William. However I can’t find confirmation that James and Elizabeth had a son named William.

Many times it is easier to find info once the initial profile for the individual is done. This also gives you a place to put any scraps of information. Sometimes even minor things can make a huge difference. Death, Location, spouse, siblings, occupation, most anything. This gives you a point to collect and share the info with others who may be able to find more.

In the case it is a duplicate, it would just get merged together.

John Thompson literally has hundreds of hits. Was HE in Tennessee? or was it the potential grandparents? Do they have a profile already existing?

I have added a profile for him and his wife Cynthia Green. It was just recently that I believe I identified her. In family history handed down she was simply identified as “Sintha”. Her husband was unknown.  Based on info found on Ancestery.com, I am listed her Husband as John Thompson.  Who knows could be another Thompson altogether.
