Inscription in Swedish Bible - 1890

I remembered last night that I had my second great grandparent's Swedish Bible in the attic.  It's about 6" thick, literally.  I haven't looked at it for several years.  The drawings and pictures inside are amazing.  I may create a free space profile for it.

Inside, I found an inscription in Swedish and a hand written obituary for my second great grandfather.  In english, thankfully.

If someone that reads Swedish has a few minutes and could tell me what the inscription says, I'd appreciate it.

This is what I got from transcribing and google translate.  I'm sure the errors are all me.

"God's greatest gift, next to his son - Our precious bible is

Oh! think how he cares for us - A God whom to us is dear

Believe a little steady in this word - when ? meet you may

However it changes on our earth - its promises shall remain

An etarnal steady and safe foundation - lies there upon safe every moment - Oh our lord help us so that we may ? safe have

Wishing you at (home ?)

Thank you so much, Lena!

And of course I couldn't resist having a go. There is still one word in the last line that doesn't make sense to me:

Guds största gåva näst sin son
   Wår dyra bibel är
O tänk vad han om oss är mon
En Gud som har oss kär
Tro lita fast på detta ord
   När pröfning möta må
Hur än det växlar på vår jord
   Dess löften skall bestå
Evig fast och säker grund
   Ligg derpå trygg hvar stund
Ack Herre hjelp oss att vi må, vid dig oss trygga få

Önskar eder i Herran

Aug. Johnson

Translated:

God's greatest gift, next to his son - Our precious bible is

Oh! think how he cares for us - A God to whom we are dear

Believe trust firmly in this word - when trials you may meet

In all vicissitudes on our earth - its promises shall remain

An eternal steady and safe foundation - lie there upon safe every moment - Oh Lord help us that we may turn safe to you

Wishing you in the Lord
Aug. Johnson

(edited to replace viddigass with vid dig oss, thanks to es n)

BTW, you did notice it spells her name?
A true artist wrote that, very beautiful and I love that it spells her name!
Isn’t it “vid dig os trygge få”, i.e. get safety through/by you?
Of course. You nailed it!!
You guys are the best!  It's a special heirloom.  Now that I know what that says, it's even more so.

Plus, I can use it to strengthen my arms.  It's really heavy.  ;)
