My wife and I recently took a road trip from Tallahassee to Pasco County Florida to search for and visit her Durden ancestors' grave sites. We were celebrating out 62nd anniversary. We found the grave sites of aunts and uncles, Greenie and Ida Durden, Glen and Elmetter Durden, leon and Lula Durden, and a possible cousin Roger Durden. We visited the grave sites of her father's (Luther Durden) mother and father, James M Durden and Florida Jane Lee Durden.
All in all we visited 4 different cemeteries in Pasco County. One, Holton Cemetery, is marked as a Florida historic site. One, Geiger Cemetery, is a private family cemetery. One Richland Cemetery is a church cemetery. One, Chapel Hill Gardens, is a public cemetery. We found all 4 to be well maintained.
We are still seeking the answers to two mysteries we uncovered. Why were her grandfather, James Miles Durden (DOD 1933), and her grandmother, Florida Jane Lee Durden (DOD 1943), buried in different cemeteries?
The second mystery involves the possible cousin Roger A Durden. His grave marker indicates his wife , Marion Durden, is still living. The mystery is that the grave marker has "Kaminski" as the family name across the bottom.
