My grandfather made this chair for my 3 year old mother in 1919. She loved it but outgrew it. I sat in it in an upstairs window when I was that age. Far in the distance we could see the Atlantic Ocean. My Daddy was over there at the close of WWII. He came home and I outgrew the chair. It was passed around among younger cousins and I didn't know what had happened to it. One day a cousin of my mother admitted she had kept the chair and was supposed to return it to me. She did just in time for my granddaughter to sit and rock in it at that same age. Now she is all grown up and engaged. I hope to one day see my great grandchildren in it. It looks like it could take several more generations of love and rocking.
