I strongly discourage the upload.  I know one of the problems with GEDCOMs is that there really is no easy way to split them into smaller chunks.  The amount of profiles we have in WikiTree that are untended or lacking even a single year is a problem already.

I have a couple thousand in ancestry.com the difference between there and here is that I'm trying to only add people that aren't already here.

I agree that it is a bad idea to upload a gedcom, especially if it is large.  Each person in the gedcom would have a profile and be added to a watchlist.  My gedcom contains over 2000 people.  It would be virtually impossible to manage a watchlist with that many people.  That is why there are so many "orphaned" profiles currently on wikitree.

I am entering people one at a time.  It is harder than downloading a gedcom, but much more managable, and will be more accurate.
