Greetings, WikiChatterers, to the Weekend Chat, from an unusually sunny Cathey’s Creek. I’m posting a little early, because I’ve got to get outside before the rain starts.
It’s only been two weeks since our last Chat, but it seems like a lot longer. The Clean-a-thon ruled last weekend with dozens of WikiTreers clearing over 130,000 DBEs. A shout out to TEAM ROSES whose members cleared over 26,000 DBEs! Well done, everyone!
On the home front: Most of what we are working on outside is repair of flood damage. Lots of fun, of course… NOT! We are making progress. The second heavy rain ate under the banks of our factory neighbor, so I asked for the removal of about four trees that are now leaning precipitously over the creek toward our property. They were very kind, visited us, took pictures of the trees, and said they’d get a tree company on it.
On the medical front 1: Two Mondays ago, the left side face swelled up like a pumpkin and the pain forced me to call my dentist… who was closed for the week. Called another and got in. X-rays showed that an infection had moved into my sinus. Amoxicillin for 10 days. Last Tuesday I had a root canal. When the Novocain wore off… let’s just say I wasn’t in screaming misery, but it was pretty bad. All fine now, and a post and crown are to follow.
On the medical front 2: On top of all that, I have a torn muscle (bicep) up near the shoulder. I had an MRI on Wednesday, and yesterday I got a cortisone shot (one of three options, another of which was surgery). I’m a little sore from the shot, but I can tell the difference already. Much of the last two weeks I was nearly incapacitated by the pain of tooth and shoulder, but there were a few days that I could get outside for chores.
On the genealogy front: No major breakthroughs lately. I participated in the Integrators Challenge, and participants created or improved over 1000 profiles mostly from the Needs Profiles Created category. This is the highest total of any Integrators Challenge. I did get a chance include new information on a former brickwall, change a LNAB, and add a set of parents (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lewin-456). Woohoo!
I hope all of you are well, you and those you love. Enjoy the Chat, everyone!
