Hi!

If you are participating in the
52 Ancestors and/or 52 Photos challenges and have NOT received the participation badge(s), please post an ANSWER below indicating which one(s) you need and we'll be sure you get them.

If you are participating in either challenge and have reached a milestone (13 in 13, 26 in 26, 52 in 52) please post an ANSWER below so we can give you the badge(s).  Note: We are not tracking who is posting each week. It's up to you to let us know when you hit 13, 26 or 52.

Please don't post your responses/photos to the challenges here. Those need to go in the thread that is posted for each week.

Please don't post if you already have the badge(s). Thanks!

I would like a badge for #52Ancestors participation, please.
Hello.  I just just found out about the 52 week  ancestor challenge badge.  I've been entering new ancestors, documentation and some source images since at least since November.  I did miss some of October getting ready for  my aunt's 100th birthday.

This is my illegitimate grandfather William Henry Whiting (1871-1947). He ran away from home at 17 because his father's family wanted to send him to Australia to raise horses for the Royal household. He joined the army with a friend for adventure and was posted to India where he fought the Afghans and later was a Hindustani interpreter offering famine relief. He was demobbed in 1900, got married and was sent to the South African War and was mentioned in dispatches. Then he returned to civilian life only again called up and offered a Commission to run a training camp for WW1. Now a pious Christadelphian and a conscious objector, he refused. Remarkably he was no shot as a coward. That is another story.

This is my illegitimate half German grandfather William Henry Whiting (1871-1947). He ran away from home underage at 16/17 because his absent father's family wanted wished to send him to Australia to raise racehorses. It was more to hide him in case he caused embarrassment. He joined with a friend for adventure in the quartermaster's department and was posted to India where he fought the Afghans at the Khyber pass and later became a Hindustani interpreter offering famine relief in Punjab. He was demobbed in 1900, got married. In a year he was sent to the South African War and was in many great battles and mentioned in dispatches. Then he returned to civilian life only again called up and offered a Commission to run a training camp for WW1. Now a pious Christadelphian and a conscious objector, he refused. Remarkably he was not shot as a coward. That is another story.
