How can anyone call him Jr.?

In order to be called Jr.,you have to be named after your father. This is a no-brainer. No one is trying to find any information about his father or his family.

Because it says "Fess Elisha Parker, Jr" in his Wikipedia article? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fess_Parker

Also, fun fact, up until the 19th century or so "Junior" did not always mean "son of another man with the same name"'. It was more often used, in the colonial era, to distinguish between two men of the same name but different ages, who may have been uncle and nephew, cousins, or unrelated. My 4th great grandfather was known as "Samuel Handy, Junior" to distinguish him from his uncle and guardian Col. Samuel Handy (and Col. Samuel made his will as "Samuel Handy, Senr", despite having no son named Samuel); this Samuel's father William was referred to as "William Handy, Jr" when commissioned a first lieutenant of militia in 1776 ("William Senior" was his first cousin who was only a few years older, and this William's father was another Samuel).

Because, according to his wikipedia article his father was also called Fess. He was named after a man with the surname Fess.

If you're interested in him, there's plenty of information in the article which would help you make a start  with researching his family.

Hi, Howard,

You may not intend to be confrontational and accusatory and I certainly understand how easy it is to come across that way when writing as opposed to speaking without meaning to do so, but instead of asking why no one else is doing anything to improve this profile, perhaps you could add some sources to his profile, create profiles for his parents, and then PM the profile manager to ask that they be connected.

You don't have to do that, of course, but if you are unwilling, then you shouldn't expect others to be more willing.

If anyone can find his family, it will be me. As for the last part of your comment, remember when I added Abimilec Pate's potential father, which I have 99.9% belief of Abimilec Pate's father. The father was, repeatedly, removed by my cousin. As for being confrontational, I am as good as they come when doing genealogy. I found Abimilec Pate's father, but no one on Wikitree wants to accept that I found him and they didn't.

Howard, no one is questioning your skills as a genealogist. It’s the way you worded your query. In this case, some folks would see the title of your post and think, “He’s asking, ‘Only an idiot would call him Jr.’” Granted, as Deb, said, written and spoken words come across different, but a change in wording can draw people into conversation instead of repelling them.

Further, you stated, “In order to be called Jr...,” etc. You stated this as an obvious fact, but you were proven incorrect in C Handy’s response.

Howard, we appreciate all of your efforts to improve our Shared Tree. No one is discounting that. All of us are in this together. However, sometimes the way you word your queries and responses are off-putting. A little editing in your post would have made all the difference.

I found Fess Parker's family on another site. When I tried to add his father to the profile, I was blocked from doing so. I found the family of Fess Parker's wife. I am not sure about adding any of that to the profile.
According to the Relationship Finder, you are my tenth cousin. How do you and I verify what the Relationship Finder shows?
As a matter of fact, the Relationship Finder says that I am related to a lot of Wikitree members including the Wikitree founder.
Since Parker is managed by the Notables Project, you’d need to get them in on the action.

10th cousins? We’d have to work out the uncertainty in my line (the Runions) back to our common ancestor. By the way, 10th is a lot closer than many other members to me!
Our paths cross with Robert Drake. You  descend from his son, Francis Drake. I descend from his son, Abraham Drake.
Yes, you would have been blocked from adding his father.  That's what PPP is all about - it prevents anybody from adding parents to a profile.
How can anyone trace their family beyond a certain point if they are blocked from adding the next generation to their family tree?
I have been told that Wikitree is a joke. Stuff like this proves them to be correct. No one should be blocked from adding the next generation of their life to their profiles.
The profile is project protected. That means you need to contact a project manager to add parents.
Howard, you are not blocked from adding parents, like the rest of us you need to follow the procedures and contact the appropriate project. Just because wikitree asks us to jump through a few hoops doesn’t make it a joke, far from it. It means wikitree wants to keep the tree as pure as possible.
Howard, Names can be very confusing. I have encountered "suggestions" when using the "name" Junior as the persons first name. In fact even when faced with documents proving that his name was indeed Junior another profile manager insists that that was only a nickname, and I knew this person personally, he was my son in laws grandfather.
Deb, Since you and I are related to each other through my Beck and Moone lines, I want to talk to you and not on here. Since you can see my email address, please email me.
C. Handy, Since you are my eleventh cousin can work together on my family tree on Wikitree.
