Can you provide more details please. How do you know that there was a James Pearson with those parents? Do you have a birth certificate or census record?

[I've spent some time looking at this and have a suitable couple but they don't seem to have had a child called James.]
I have James death certificate from Victoria Australia. It refers to his parents as" William Pearson and Elzabeth Pearson formerly Parr. Williams occupation is listed as a labourer"

James married Margaret Ann Flynn in Liverpool when he was 28. They had 7 children. The first one died as a baby-Mary Jane. We know his family came out to Australia with mum Margaret and two children coming with her. Thomas got an exemption for fighting in Ww1 because his mum was coming out and at that time and his dad James was working as a stoker on troop transport ships. The next son William died from a gunshot wound through the chest at Gallipoli. He died onboard the H.T Assays on 16/10/15. He was buried at sea. The next son Robert was married at St. John's, Fountains rd, Liverpool in 1917 to Gwendoline Ellis. We do not know if he came to Australia. The rest of the family came and lived long and fruitful lives. James is my great grandfather on my maternal side. My mum is about to turn 93 and so we are trying to chase her family tree as her dad,Thomas, died when she was 10. Any help is appreciated

Cheers

Jan

Here is James (aged 8) in 1871 with his parents William and Elizabeth in Sherwood Street, Liverpool

"England and Wales Census, 1871", database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VBX1-85G : 24 April 2019), James Pearson in entry for William Pearson, 1871

The image shows a few more details: William's birthplaces is Liverpool, Elizabeth's is Chester and William's job is a cotton porter. James has an older brother Robert (16).

There's no problem at all finding Robert's birth:

PEARSON, ROBERT         PARR

The confusingly named West Derby is actually an area of Liverpool. James is not in the register though. Unfortunately I can't locate the family on the 1851 or 1861 censuses. Some of these might be siblings but it's hard to say without censuses.

Thanks Matthew, thought it was a bit odd that there was such a discrepancy between his parents marriage date and his birth. This gives me more avenues to chase at least. Cheers, jan
